The “NEW NOISE”, can be viewed as a “top down” systemic and cyclical problem, that slowly increases its potency over time, while simultaneously undermining our sense of PURPOSE and POWER.
(STEP #1 ) BIG TECH represents a 12 trillion dollar industry. The increasing dominance of technology, media and consumerism in society, sets the stage for…
(STEP #2 ) The increasing SPEED OF CHANGE and INCREMENTAL LEVELS OF INCOMING INFORMATION that follow.
(STEP #3.) As humans, our cognitive capacities have LIMITATIONS, and cannot match the increasing speed of technological change with its accompanying social implications. This creates higher and higher levels of OVERLOAD and stress.
(STEP #4. ) As stress and overload increase, we find new and often destructive ways of COMPENSATION and COPING.
(STEP #5. ) The brain is “plastic” and continually “rewiring” itself, based on its incoming information input. As the brain ADAPTS and “REWIRES”, our LIFESTYLES and our MINDSTYLES can be altered toward the compensation and coping strategies we choose, making ELEVATED behaviors (positive change) more difficult. When developmental change is reduced, we become more vulnerable and subject to the new incoming “noise” and the external messages flooding our information channels.
(STEP #6. ) As the OUTSIDE channels of information become more and more dominant, our INSIDE channel of information (wants, needs, beliefs, passions, goals, and attitudes) can become overwhelmed, creating more difficulties for developing our PURPOSE and POWER.
